There are
two Primary Care Trusts (PCT's) that cover the county of Nottingham.
These are the
Nottingham County PCT and the
Nottingham city PCT.
you will need to contact the practice manager of the practice you are
intending to join to find in which locality PCT the practice belongs to.
Nottingham County PCT. contact Lynne Sykes
0115 9931444
Nottingham City PCT. contact Claire Matthews
0115 9912334
In order to work at
the practice, you will need to be on the relevant PCT's performance
list. You should also bear in mind that when you change your
practice, you should again check to see in which PCT your second
practice lies and should this be in the other PCT in which you are
currently employed in, you will need to reapply again to the other PCTs
list to get onto their performance list.
you should
apply early in order that all the relevant checks and forms can be
completed. Failure to do so will delay your working at the
practice, and thereby extend your required training in order to make up
the required time period for the post.
The PCT will
need to check your references from previous employers and also to
perform a CRB check. The CRB check is an enhanced check. In
order to work at the "out of hours" cooperative (NEMS), you need to be
on the performers list and to have had a CRB check. Administration
at NEMS will contact your PCT and confirmed that you are eligible.
You should
contact the relevant person responsible at the PCT highlighted above,
they will send you the relevant forms, and ask you to make an
appointment to see them. Instructions will be included on the
forms, these include the important paragraph instructing you to bring
original documentation as copies will not be accepted.
Similarly if
you are moving from a hospital post to general practice, irrespective of
whether or not you have been in practice previously, you should again
check with the PCT that you are still eligible at least six weeks
before, just in case you need to be registered.
