How to apply to a Training Practice

These are the current guidelines for GP Registrars on the Nottingham V.T.S. for selecting a training practice.

a) GP Registrars already in post on the Scheme

When Barbara is approached by a GP Registrar requesting allocation to a practice for a second attachment the following should take place:

  1. Check practice is available
  2. Pencil his/her name into vacant slot
  3. GP Registrar to contact Trainer and arrange a meeting
  4. Inform Barbara of the outcome of the meeting
  5. If attachment is mutually acceptable to both Trainer and GP Registrar the attachment can then be confirmed.

If the GP Registrar does not contact Barbara within 4 weeks of penciling his/her name in, the placement will be regarded as vacant for other GP Registrars.

b) GP Registrars not yet in post

Course Organisers allocate GP Registrars to their first practices and the GP Registrars then contact the Trainers and arrange a meeting. If a GP Registrar experiences any particular problems with the allocation of the practice they should discuss this with the Course Organisers before taking up the post.
