Trent Deanery Targeted Training

Introduction Training documents Assessment Consulting & Communication Educational theory Personal learning Debriefs and tutorials Deanery re-approval Targeted training

MINIMS is the Deanery group who assess requests for assistance for targeted training for doctors who are not progressing satisfactorily through their training programme.

If a doctor training for generally practice is likely not to satisfactorily complete a programme of training either in practice [VTR1] or in a hospital post [VTR2] then in the first instance concerns should be discussed with the local course organiser or 'patch' associate director. If targeted training is required then this will be discussed at the MINIMS group to confirm funding and assess what other forms of support may be necessary.

The MINIMS referral form and a preliminary assessment form are attached

- both should be completed when making a referral, although educational supervisors / GP trainers may which to append a narrative report providing further detail.

Whilst the numbers of doctors requiring targeted training is small, we recognise that they can take up considerable time at both Deanery and local level. Accurate information regarding problems encountered helps in planning an appropriate response.
